Newborn Lexi – Full Shoot

It’s been forever since I’ve posted.. but let me tell you, I haven’t been bored!

In the next few days you’ll be seeing tons of posts with TONS of photos to keep you excited and wanting more (I hope!).

Let’s take a step back… Lexi Roxanne Eva was born September 6th, 2011.

She is my husband’s cousin’s daughter and we love her like she was our own.   Since her birth, we’ve seen her EVERY week and my god, she’s growing so so fast.

This session was tons of fun from beginning to end, Lexi was a real doll to work with.  She slept through the whole session, only waking up when her mom (Jess) or I changed her from prop to prop; and let me tell you there were lots.    I enjoyed every part of this day and yes, even when Lexi decided to go to the bathroom (newborn breastfed variety) all over my props and wall!   In all honesty, I didn’t mind one bit and Jess and I had a good laugh out of it.

Message to my dearest Lexi:

You are amazing to me in so many ways.  Every day I spend with you, I witness amazing changes in you; your growing so incredibly quickly, your smiling more and more and your little personality is adorable.  I cannot begin to explain how beautiful, sweet, innocent and special you are to me and to the rest of your family.

When you are 16, I will lovingly share with you the moments I’ve been so blessed to share with you and your family since you’ve been born.  I’ve witnessed some very special milestones in your life already and will cherish them forever.  If I was  helpful in capturing these moments and they are important to you in the future like mine were for me, I am honored.

Please remember that you have a special place in my heart and in the heart of all who surround you.  I love you deeply and am forever here for you.

Your auntie who is so in love with you,

The following photos are my favourite from the day and really show how angelic this child is.

A word to fellow photogs:
I’m going to end this post by telling you all how much I love newborns…well babies in general.  Newborn shoots aren’t easy, they are time consuming and you have to be comfortable handling babies and know that they need to be fed often during a session.

I believe that as a photographer, you have to choose your sessions based on what you love photographing vs. what pays.  If you start doing sessions based on how many clients you want and can get, you’ll start quickly hating what you’re doing and who really wants that!

I hope you enjoyed these photos and please check back for more (sometime in the next couple days!)

The beautiful Lexi

Exactly 2 weeks ago today, Jess, Luc and their cutie Liam, welcomed their baby girl Lexi to the world.  I am so grateful that I was able to share in these moments.  This post features photos from Lexi’s 2nd day, her 4th day and finally, a preview of her official newborn photo shoot.  I really hope you enjoy the photos.  Don’t worry, there will be an official newborn shoot post once the photos are done featuring some scene-by-scene stories.

Lexi – Day 2

Lexi – Day 4
Hubby and I visit, and she is still as beautiful as ever.  I took this opportunity to snap some ‘detail’ shots.

This adventure so far…

…is a crazy one!

When I first decided to launch my business, I was terrified and unsure of what would happen.  The world of photography is a tough one because it’s so saturated with wonderful and talented photographers who are all wanting the same thing: Clients.

From the beginning, I decided to lower my expectations and just love every minute of it.  Since then, I have met the most amazing people (you know who you are), had wonderful experiences and came across such important and worthwhile opportunities that have changed the way I see this business.  When I think of photography as a business, I now expect a totally different experience.

After every shoot, contract, and even unexpected family paparazzi sessions, I get a feeling of excitement and contentment.  How many people can say that they get to share; a moment in time, a child’s vision of the world, a great love, a memory and so much more?  It’s simply amazing!

I’m aware that photo shoots will always scare me, but I am OK with that.  I’ve become fond of those butterflies that accompany me and will welcome them when they want to play.

I have no idea what opportunities the next year will bring or if I will be successful but for now, I am ecstatic with the outcome and welcome any new adventures whether they be perfect or not.

To those of you who read my blog, enjoy my posts and view my photos, I am grateful for the time you take out of your busy lives.

Good night!

EF Magazine – Full shoot!

Almost a month after the shoot, the photos are done, EF Magazine has posted their release of the photos and the nervous feeling I had about the whole shoot has turned into something completely different and a bit unexpected; I can honestly say that I am extremely proud of how the photos turned out and am ready to share them ALL with the world wide web!  (or at least my friends, family, fans on facebook and my 1 blog subscriber – Thanks to you all!)

Before I post the photos, I’d like to thank Malorie Bertrand of EF Magazine for allowing me to be part of this shoot, Natasha Gaim for doing amazing work on the makeup and Jane Porter for helping out with the models and styling.  Also would like to thank the amazing models: Jennifer Brooks (beautiful red hair!), Evelyn Marshall (wearing the yellow shorts) and Mahlet Seifu (pink lingerie).  You girls were AMAZING to work with and oh so nice.  All of you made it a wonderful experience and hope to work with you in the future!

I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them and editing them.

Fresh love at any age!

This session was very special to me.  Reason? My mother is getting married and I got to shoot her engagement photos!  Plus, she’s marrying a really nice man who loves her more than anything and takes great care of her!  Look at the photos – it’s pretty easy to tell:)

We had tons of fun!  It was freezing, windy, cloudy but the positive energy and happiness was very present.  I loved being able to capture the special moments between them, and was so happy to be able to be part of their love.  Although seeing your parents marry again can be difficult, I am happy that my mother has found love again.

I wish them both a lifetime of happiness!

This is just a small sneak peek – once the photos are done, I will post them here so stay tuned!
